Depression and Multivitamins: Should You Take A Multivitamin?
Wednesday, January 28th, 2009If you are struggling with depression, should you take a multivitamin on top of your other medication? Well, so far as I know you will not suffer any negative side effects or bad drug interactions if you do. It might help in some small way to maintain the health of your brain and body. Stress, anxiety and depression can take its toll on the nervous system and your body. Therefore you may take a multivitamin.
Even if you are not depressed you may consider taking a daily multivitamin. Usually they are not too expensive and are easy to swallow. You do not have to end up using a handful of supplements everyday. One multivitamin should be enough.
Taking other supplements such as Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B may also be considered by depressed people. There is a lot of information about this on the world wide web, so some research might be in order.
I currently take an alkaline powder consisting of vitamin C, magnesium and potassium. This is to boost the general health of my body and brain. I like the mineral taste.
In conclusion, taking a multivitamin supplement if you are depressed may help you in the long term.
