Can anxiety disorder contribute to the irrational desire for more frequent urination? It seems that it can. It may be one of the symptoms people struggling with anxiety experience from time to time.

What are some of the common causes of frequent urination?

1. Drinking a lot of water or other fluids.
2. Drinking beverages containing caffeine.
3. Drinking alcoholic beverages.

You may wish to talk to your doctor about your frequent urination just to be on the safe side. Frequent urination may sometimes indicate a urinary tract infection, bladder, kidney or prostrate problem. Diabetes is also a possible medical reason.

The need to urinate even if you have been to the toilet recently makes it difficult for anxiety sufferers to travel. They may start to develop an obsession with this, which does not help with the symptoms. How can this problem be dealt with?

First, frequent urination is a physical symptom caused by your mental anxiety and is probably not a sign of some medical disorder.

Second, undergoing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) may help to diminish this uncomfortable and distressing desire to urinate.

Third, you probably won’t wet yourself. While it is uncomfortable, think about other things and continue. You will get a chance to go to the toilet soon enough.
